Longville, MN (February 22, 2013) - Team LaVallee’s Pro Rider, Levi LaVallee has confirmed that he will be sitting out for the rest of the 2012/2013 race season. LaVallee was injured this past January at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado. After winning back-to-back Golds in Freestyle and Speed and Style, LaVallee went to X Games Medical to get his left arm/shoulder area looked at. Under doctors orders, LaVallee was to sit out for the rest of the 2013 X Games. Once back at home in Minnesota, LaVallee had extended view MRIs of his left shoulder / lat muscle area. The MRIs determined LaVallee’s left lat muscle was 50% torn. The doctor had told LaVallee to rest, not race and to check back again in 6 weeks for a follow up.
Early this week LaVallee discovered a large muscle bulging from his back, in the same area where his lat muscle was torn. His doctors at DISC Sports & Spine Center in Marina del Ray, California suggested LaVallee to come to their office for a follow up MRI and evaluation. Those new tests have shown LaVallee’s lat muscle had completely torn and he is now scheduled to have surgery early next week to repair. The doctors believe LaVallee will be fully recovered in 6 months.
We at Team LaVallee send well wishes and a speedy recovery to Levi.
“Huge bummer that my lat muscle has caused me to sit out the rest of the season. I was really hoping to get back out on the track, even if it was for one more race. With surgery scheduled for next week, I still plan on attending all of the remaining ISOC Nationals and cheer on my teammates. Thanks so much to my awesome sponsors, crew, and the fans for their endless support, it means the world to me!” states LaVallee
